Phasing in Phage
Invasion brings 7 new champions with it, a whopping 5 of whom are aligned with the Phage affiliation! That means more decay, more electricity, and yes…many more bugs.
It’s not all pox and pestilence though as, naturally, the demon invasion will not go unchecked. The elves may be down, but they aren’t out. They still have something to say.
Use your wits and tactical prowess to strike from positions of advantage. Remember, location, distance, direction, and awareness are vital to your success!
The Ground is Not Your Friend
Or is it? You’re far from the healing waters of the River Ni. Bodies litter the fields, ruins crumble around you. Invasion introduces new alterations and a new keyword: “Terrain,” which adds unique challenges as you maneuver around the arena.
What you’ll need to figure out is how to use it to your advantage.
We get it. New sets can be intimidating. So many new cards, so many new mechanics, where do you even begin? Fully embracing the “board game when you sit down” feel of Genesis, we are releasing our very first official dungeon-crawling campaign to help you get started!
This single-session experience will let players work together to build decks from a collaborative sealed pool of Invasion packs, and send the party on a multi-encounter campaign introducing the amazing lore and characters of the Invasion storyline!
Dungeon-crawling in Genesis is something you’ll hear a lot more about in the future, and we have some phenomenal plans for it. Stay tuned to learn about how how this incredible format really changes the game for Genesis: Battle of Champions!
Continued Support for Casual and Competitive Formats
Though Genesis’s main format is often constructed Swiss, Invasion, along with our other released sets, supports many styles of play. Click here to see the rules for a few of these, or click below to learn more. We’ve even shared some details on the 16-player Battle Royale style free for all played at our Days of Beckoning event above!
-
The most common format levering a non-eliminating tournament structure with a fixed number of rounds of 1v1 matches.
-
Put together a deck on the spot as you and other champions each get 4 packs that you’ll select from and pass to make up the best deck with 35 cards max and up to 175 Chi (power level, if you’re new). Then play a Swiss tournament from that!
-
Like Booster Drafts, build a 35-card deck on the spot, but this time you get 6 packs, but you’re not passing them! This is great for new players to explore cards and be on the same power level as other players throughout the event.
-
Got a few packs, a few players, and a little time to kill? Check out this fan variant for Pack Wars! Open a pack…that’s your deck! Check out a quick video on the rules here.
-
Supporting up to 6 champions in a single arena (though 4 is the most common), this hilarious, casual format may be less about the tactics and more about the friends you make along the way. That is…until it’s just the two of you and you need to be the last one standing!
To really spice it up, consider 2v2 teams as well! -
16 Champions, 4 arenas, one winner! For crazier results, shrink the arena as the game progresses! This wild free-for-all format supports any number of champions and is another fun way to experience Genesis!
